President Donald Trump confirmed on Saturday that the United States had launched airstrikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities, escalating tensions in the region and aligning the U.S. directly with Israel’s conflict with Tehran.
In a statement, Trump declared, “We have carried out a highly effective strike on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, targeting Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan.” The extent of the damage caused by the bombings and the impact on Iran’s nuclear program remain uncertain, with the full repercussions expected to unfold in the coming days.
Strikes on Fordow
Of particular significance was the targeting of the Fordow nuclear enrichment facility, situated deep within a mountain to protect it from potential attacks. Trump emphasized the use of a “full payload of bombs” on Fordow, also known as Fordo, underscoring the severity of the assault.
Ensuring the safety of all aircraft involved, Trump confirmed that they were en route back to base, with none remaining in Iranian airspace. This decisive action followed Trump’s earlier stance of allowing a two-week window for diplomatic efforts before considering military intervention.
In a separate post on Truth Social, Trump reiterated his commitment to peace, stating, “NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE!” The aftermath of these airstrikes marks a critical juncture in the ongoing geopolitical tensions between the U.S., Iran, and regional allies.
