Amid President Donald Trump’s intensified immigration crackdown, not even TikTok’s top star is exempt from being sent out of the U.S.
Khaby Lame, the 25-year-old sensation who rose to fame on TikTok during the Covid-19 pandemic, was apprehended by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas on June 6 due to ‘immigration violations,’ as per an ICE statement.
Detention and Departure
Lame, an Italian national and the most followed TikTok account holder with over 162 million followers, arrived in the country on April 30 but overstayed his visa terms, leading to his detainment by ICE. The agency disclosed that Lame was given voluntary departure on June 6 and has since left the U.S.
Response from Bo Loudon
Bo Loudon, a prominent TikTok figure known for his support of President Trump, promptly claimed responsibility for Lame’s exit. In a post on X on June 6, Loudon asserted that he uncovered Lame’s visa violations and took action to have him deported.
The 18-year-old influencer, associated with Barron Trump and a vocal advocate for the president, labeled Lame as a ‘far-left illegal alien,’ despite Lame’s non-political TikTok content.
ICE Detentions and Protests
Lame’s detention coincided with the Trump administration’s heightened deportation activities. Recent ICE detentions in Los Angeles triggered widespread protests, prompting a forceful response from the administration, including the deployment of National Guard troops and Marines to contain the unrest.
