The White House has launched a scathing attack on Amazon, denouncing the e-commerce giant’s decision to reveal how tariffs are inflating prices alongside products as a “hostile and political” maneuver.
During a briefing on Tuesday, White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt rebuked Amazon’s announcement, stating, “I just spoke with the president regarding this issue. Amazon’s disclosure is a hostile and political gesture.” Punchbowl News disclosed Amazon’s intentions to exhibit the price increments attributable to President Donald Trump’s tariffs.

When questioned about Trump’s rapport with Amazon’s founder Jeff Bezos, Leavitt evaded a direct response. She remarked, “I refrain from discussing the president’s interactions with Jeff Bezos. Nevertheless, this move by Amazon is undeniably hostile and political.”
Amazon refrained from immediate commentary on the matter. It’s important to note that POLITICO has not corroborated Amazon’s purported strategy of showcasing tariff expenses.
