The Education Department has announced the closure of its Washington-area offices starting Tuesday evening due to unspecified “security reasons,” as conveyed in a notice to agency employees.
According to the notice issued on Tuesday, department personnel are required to evacuate the premises by 6 p.m. Employees with approved telework agreements have been granted permission to work from home on Wednesday.
Strict Restriction on Facility Access
The notice explicitly states, “Employees will not be permitted in any ED facility on Wednesday, March 12th, for any reason.” All offices are scheduled to resume in-person operations on March 13th, as per the notification.
Despite requests for comments, an agency spokesperson has yet to respond to inquiries.
