Democratic Consulting Firm Founded by Ex-Sanders Advisors for 2028 Election Strategy
A dynamic duo of former Bernie Sanders advisors with a keen eye on the 2028 presidential election landscape has launched a new Democratic consulting firm. Mark Longabaugh, a key strategist from Sanders’ 2016 White House campaign, and Joe Caiazzo, a seasoned state aide for Sanders’ presidential runs, have joined forces to establish 1788 Media, headquartered in Washington, D.C.
The emergence of this consulting powerhouse, as reported by POLITICO, signals the Democratic Party’s shift in response to the post-Trump era and its quest to regain political influence. The founders aim to assist Democrats in navigating the central challenge currently confronting the party: how to reconnect with working-class voters.
Strategic Vision for 2026 and 2028 Elections
Longabaugh and Caiazzo are actively engaging with potential clients interested in contests for the House, Senate, and gubernatorial positions in the upcoming 2026 midterms. They are also gearing up to play a pivotal role in the 2028 Democratic presidential primary.
The establishment of 1788 Media underscores a fresh wave of Democratic strategists looking to broaden their impact. This venture follows the closure of the prominent consulting firm Devine Mulvey Longabaugh, where Longabaugh previously served as a partner.
Longabaugh outlined their core ethos, stating, “Our principle is pretty simple – we support the most progressive candidate with a winning potential.” Reflecting on the 2024 election outcomes, he emphasized the Democratic Party’s notable decline among working-class voters and highlighted their track record of collaborating with economically progressive populists adept at securing this demographic.
Caiazzo echoed this sentiment, asserting, “Reclaiming working-class voters is imperative for establishing a lasting Democratic majority.” Beyond their work with Sanders, Longabaugh brings a wealth of experience from various presidential campaigns and environmental advocacy groups, while Caiazzo’s background includes serving as the campaign manager for Senator Sheldon Whitehouse in 2018 and as a senior advisor for former Congressman Joe Kennedy’s 2020 Senate bid.
