Lobbying Firms Associated with Trump See Surge in New Clients
Lobbying firms with close ties to President Donald Trump have seen a significant uptick in new clients following the election. Several firms have disclosed nearly two dozen new clients as companies and industry groups seek connections with the new administration.
Boom in Business
The disclosed numbers likely underestimate the actual increase in business for lobbying firms linked to Trump. Reporting outreach to presidential transition teams is not always required, and firms have time to disclose new clients, painting a fuller picture in the upcoming reports.
Impact on the Lobbying Industry
The election has triggered a familiar cycle in the lobbying sphere, where firms benefit from their ties to the new government. While many major players on K Street reported revenue surges in 2024, firms with connections to the incoming president experienced particularly notable growth.
Ballard Partners, led by fundraiser Brian Ballard, stands out as a primary beneficiary of Trump’s election. The firm, which boasts key members of Trump’s administration as alums, has secured an impressive 41 new clients since the election, including prominent names like Paramount Studios and Harvard University.
Miller Strategies, founded by Jeff Miller, a finance chair for Trump’s inauguration, has also flourished post-election. The firm added 21 new clients, including Uber and Ebay, leading to a substantial revenue increase.
Continued Success
Mercury Public Affairs and Continental Strategy have also experienced a surge in new clients, with the former reporting a significant revenue boost in 2024. CGCN Group, an all-Republican firm, has witnessed an increase in business with staff members from the Trump White House.
Contrasting Trends
Conversely, firms associated with former President Joe Biden have encountered a decline in business post-election. Ricchetti Inc. and Putala Strategies have seen drops in lobbying revenues and client numbers since Biden’s departure from office.
On a positive note, TheGROUP DC, housing Biden’s former vice presidential legislative affairs director, reported an increase in lobbying revenues. The firm has added new clients and maintained steady revenue in recent quarters.
